Helpful tips while visiting:

  • Most Museums and Monuments are free but may require a timed pass for entry. Please lookup all the places you want to visit online before you go to be sure you have a ticket to enter
  • Avoid Chinatown after dark
  • Be prepared to walk. Most of the national mall is only accessible by sidewalks. Renting bikes a scooters are good ideas, but you will only be able to park them in a few places
  • Museums are generally open from 10am to 5:30pm so be sure to plan accordingly. Most people try to be the first ones in, so getting there around lunch time is your bet
