Our local recommendations

We've handpicked our favourite local spots so you can continue exploring like a local after your experience is over.

Our top 5 street food / quick food stops:

  • Osteria All’Arco, owned by Francesco & Matteo, this little venue has everyone hearts! Delicious food prepared under the Slow Food movement requirements and incredible local wines!
  • Sacro & Profano. Who was going to think that by the steps of Rialto bridge, one of the most famous spots of Venice, you could find a lay-back bar owned by a group of local musicians?
  • Cantina Do Mori. Opened in 1462, even before the Discovery of America, this place has become an institution for the market people
  • Baccalà Veneto. If you are looking to taste or buy the best Cod of Venice you must visit this bar-shop owned by two brothers Lorenzo & Edoardo! Did you remember what the guide told you about the Venetian Cod? It is so popular in Venice!
  • Al Timón & Vino Vero in Fondamenta Ormesini for a perfect aperitivo (Go around 6 pm and with good weather you can sit down outside in their boat too!)

Our top 5 most recommended restaurants / food establishments:

  • For a dinner to remember (book ahead and expect to pay a bit) Antiche Carampane, Da Ignazio and Osteria Santa Marina near Rialto
  • If you are looking for something less fancy in a typical venetian tavern style go to Cantina do Spade, Osteria da Alberto and Antica Mola dai Costa
  • The best pizza in Venice? Definitely at Birraria la Corte. You can enjoy an amazing pizza (but not only!) in a lovely square
  • Ombra del Leone is the best place if you want to have a water front table overlooking the Grand Canal and gondola traffic! Amazing location and food!
  • Are you going to Burano Island? If so, you cannot miss the famous fish risotto at Da Primo restaurant

Best coffee stops in the city to start your day:

  • A warm chocolate or a coffee of your choice in the hidden Caffe del Doge near Rialto Market
  • Grab a coffee or the famous “Giandujotto” in Da Nico in Zattere. Chocolate lovers will love me for this. You can sit down overlooking the Giudecca Canal or go for a stroll to Punta della Dogana, one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Venice
  • Vizio & Virtù an amazing chocolate shop run only by women offers chocolate classes and incredible traditional sweets!

Our favourite hidden gems:

  • For those who judge the books for their cover, you should check the Church of San Pantalon in Dorsoduro! Hint: Look up!
  • The hidden stairs of Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo
  • The most beautiful bookshop in all Venice at Libreria Acqua Alta. Climb the booksteps to look out over the canals
