Our local recommendations

We've handpicked our favourite local spots so you can continue exploring like a local after your experience is over.

Our top 5 street food / quick food stops:

  • Chez Le Libanais (great Lebanese food)
  • As du Falafel (best falafel in town)
  • Miznon (Israeli street food. Make sure you try the boeuf bourguignon pita)
  • Marché des Enfants Rouges (food market. Many options to choose from)
  • Plan D (only vegetarian street food in a very cool area by the Canal Saint Martin. Famous for the vegan sandwich)

Our top 5 most recommended restaurants / food establishments:

  • Bouillon République (very affordable traditional French food)
  • Le Fumoir (very cozy place just behind The Louvre. Perfect stop after a visit)
  • Breizh Café (crepes, galettes and cider)
  • Un zebre a Montmartre (nice bristo with good food and nice atmosphere)
  • Caractere de Cochon (typical French charcuterie. Great sandwiches and cold cut boards at a very reasonable price)

Best coffee stops in the city to start your day:

  • La Caféotheque (right in Marais neighbourhood)
  • Shakespeare and Company (next to the very famous bookstore. A bit touristy but very iconic place. Very close to Notre Dame)
  • Kitchen Café

Top 5 live music / evening entertainment venues you can’t miss:

  • Le Baiser Salé (jazz)
  • La gare / Le gore (jazz and alternative)
  • Caveau de la Huchette (jazz and classics from the past)
  • Culture Rapide (music and poetry)
  • L'alimentation Générale (pop electro)

Our top 3 parks to wander and relax in:

  • Parc des Buttes Chaumont
  • Parc Montsouris (very calm. Not touristy at all)
  • Parc de Belleville (nice views of Paris)

Our favourite hidden gems:

  • Promenade Planté (Paris highline)
  • La Petite Ceinture (abandoned railway, full of flowers and some street art. Nice to have a quiet walk)
  • 59 Rivoli (the building was abandoned for 15 years and some artists brought it back to life. Very interesting art/ cultural center)

Top 5 must-do activities in the city:

  • Get to the Rooftop of Galeries Lafayette and enjoy the views of Paris. Free entrance.
  • Rue Mouffetard (one of the oldest streets in Paris. Beautiful walking area full of places to grab a quick bite)
  • Père Lachaise Cemetery (it might sound bizarre but it is actually a beautiful place and many famous people are buried there)
  • Take the metro line 6 over the Seine and enjoy the views of the Eiffel tower (Bir- Hakeim to Passy station)
  • Go to Mon Coeur Café and Restaurant in Belleville and you will have great views of the city. Sunsets are unreal.

Top thing to avoid while visiting:

  • People coming at you asking to sign papers for different associations. It's a scam!
  • People trying to put a knot on your finger. It's a scam!
  • Do not spend all of your time around the Eiffel Tower Area. There is a lot to see in the city.
  • Be careful with pickpockets in busy areas.
  • Don't expect Paris to be like in the movies… It is better!

Final suggestions:

  • Galerie Vivienne (free entrance. Gorgeous 19th century gallery)
  • Ground Control (very hip and cool patio full of bars/restaurants)
